Participating with Accountants

Producers currently working with an accountant for their farm or ranch can provide permission to their accountant to submit data on their behalf.

If your relationship is primarily focused on tax accounting, there may be some additional information necessary for the NM-FARM Program.

**Farmers and ranchers decide the extent of financial data they want to include for analysis.

1. First, grant permission directly to your accountant using the Producer Permission Form to Accountants to allow for anonymous submission of data on your behalf.

2. Provide relevant FINPACK Budgets Input Forms: Benchmarking is reported on a per-unit basis. For example, livestock expenses are reported per head, crop expenses are reported per-acre. These forms allow expenses reported for tax purposses to be utilized for the benchmarking program.

The Budgets Input Forms linked below are from the FINPACK Knowledge Base created by The Center for Farm Financial Management at the University of Minnesota.

Privacy

To protect producers who submit their data to the database, a minimum number of farms is set in order for a report to generate results.

  • Whole Farm reports need a minimum of 10 records.
  • Crop and livestock summary reports requires 5 records.
If a report doesn’t generate or a column is missing from your report that means there wasn’t enough data for that specific criteria.  **Broaden your search criteria as needed to gather enough farms to generate a report.
